Job Description: Cash Application Specialist
A company in Burbank is looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Cash Application Specialist to join our accounting and finance team. This role is essential for managing and resolving accounts receivables transactions by ensuring timely and accurate application of payments to customer accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a knack for working with financial data in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Payment and Deposit Application:
Apply daily customer payments, including checks, wire transfers, ACH payments, and credit card transactions, to customer accounts in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Reconcile bank deposits to cash receipts recorded in the accounting system to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Research and Issue Resolution:
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or unidentified payments by collaborating with internal teams (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Billing, or Sales) or external customers.
Document and update any unresolved issues, such as unapplied cash, short payments, or overpayments for proper follow-up.
Account Reconciliations and Reporting:
Perform regular reconciliations of customer accounts to ensure proper allocation and track outstanding balances.
Accurately prepare and provide daily, weekly, and monthly cash application reports for management review.
Compliance and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all cash application activities to ensure compliance with company policies as well as audit and regulatory requirements.
Support and assist with internal and external audits related to cash application and banking activities.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or general accounting.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) is highly desired.
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams effectively.
Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and handle high transaction volumes with accuracy.
