Job Description

HR & Licensing Specialist Hybrid | Based in Dallas, Texas

Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm

We're Smart City, and we're on the hunt for a detail-loving, people-obsessed HR & Licensing Specialist to join our growing team. If you love checking things off a list, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and get genuine joy from helping others navigate their work journey, then you might just be our person.

This role sits at the heart of our HR operations. You'll be the go-to for everything from prelicensing and onboarding to HR systems and employee questions. Whether it's supporting a new hire on their first day or helping a manager fill a role…you'll be the magic behind the curtain making it all happen.

What You'll Be Doing

Managing the full prelicensing process for our future agents

✅ Keeping licensing requirements up-to-date across all the states we operate in

Leading Day One onboarding sessions via Zoom like a boss

Processing new hires, transfers, and terminations in a timely, organized way

Supporting managers and team members with our HR tools and systems

Posting open roles and helping managers through the hiring process

Running reports and spreadsheets to keep things moving smoothly

Handling a few admin tasks (like company mail and employment verifications)

Responding to candidate and internal questions with clarity and kindness

Supporting new HR projects and making our processes even better as we grow

Who You Are

Super organized and always one step ahead

A clear, kind communicator (written + verbal)

Tech-savvy...you're comfortable jumping between systems, Zoom calls, and spreadsheets

You like structure, but aren't thrown off when things change

A people person who thrives in a collaborative, team-first environment

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of HR, recruiting, or administrative experience
  • Experience with tools like TriNet, Breezy, Google Workspace, and maybe even Asana
  • Solid Excel/Google Sheets skills (vlookups and filters don't scare you)
  • Bonus points if you've worked with licensing or HR compliance before!

Our Core Values (H.O.N.O.R) need to resonate hardcore with you:

  • Honor Bound:  We do what we say we're going to do, and we don't need to wear a suit and tie to do it.
  • Overachievers:  We always go the extra mile.
  • Never Settle:  We are constantly striving for growth, both personally and professionally.
  • Optimistic:  We are a genuine force of positivity, not like rainbows and butterflies, but like, life is good.
  • Real People:  We treat everyone like friends, and we're real human beings who make mistakes sometimes. Let's learn from it and move forward.

The Perks

Competitive salary range between $68,000-$72,000 + annual bonus potential

Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and other benefits

Company-paid parental leave and life/disability insurance

Company-issued computer + monthly phone stipend

Flexible PTO + 13 Paid Holidays (early release prior to all holidays)

A genuinely fun, supportive team culture

Casual dress code

Occasional travel for team events and trainings

⚖ Professional development and training opportunities

Let's be real: We move fast, we stay curious, and we genuinely care about the people we work with. If you're excited to make an impact, bring some order to the chaos, and build amazing employee experiences along the way, then we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now and let's chat!

P.S. We understand that no candidate is perfectly qualified for any job. Experience comes in different forms; many skills are transferable; and passion goes a long way. Even more important than your resume is a clear demonstration of dedication, impact, and the ability to thrive in a fluid and collaborative environment. We encourage you to apply if your experience is close to what we're looking for.
