About the Company - Outside The Lines, Inc. (OTL) is a national design-build specialty contractor delivering exceptional water features, rockwork, and themed construction across the world. Our talented team has created some of the most imaginative and mind-bending themed environments in the industry, from making water features dance, to music and light, to recreating an arctic environment for the world’s largest penguin exhibit. We are a team of 50+ strong and growing, our offices are based in Anaheim, CA and Dallas, TX.

About the Role - The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting their assigned Project Manager in the planning, management direction, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned projects for the company. This role is working towards becoming a Project Manager. The primary responsibility is to provide technical and administrative support on the projects, as well as to provide support to the Vice President Project Management. The Project Engineer is a full time exempt position based in our Anaheim, California office and will report to the Vice President Project Management. This role is perfect for someone that has experience in Construction, Engineering, or Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Review of contract documents, plans, and specifications to thoroughly understand project scope
• Understand Safety Program provide assistance for the field & ensure adherence at project level
• Perform take-offs and material quantity calculations
• Project coordination, project controls & document control
• Prepare and distribute submittals and RFIs to project team and field
• Production tracking of self-performed work, job cost analysis, and cost at completion calculations
• Development, management, and updating project schedule
• Perform important administrative functions for the Project Manager (updating the project schedule, taking minutes at meetings, making phone calls to vendors and suppliers, responding to emails, and writing progress reports to the project team)
• Support field operations with special needs as requested
• Issuing purchase orders and reviewing accounts payable invoices for correct pricing
• Management and tracking of subcontractors and vendors of fabricated items
• Preparation of project close out documents such as-builts, O&M manuals, and warranty documents
• Other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager or Vice President Project Management

Qualifications - Bonus: a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management plus prior experience in the Construction Industry

Required Skills

• Familiarity with construction documents and the ability to read and interpret complex drawings
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to function well independently with limited supervision
• Strong conflict resolution skills, you have the ability to problem solve and don't run from conflict
• Computer literate, technically competent, and fluent in English
• Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
• Physical demands include working in both office and field environments that require bending, kneeling, or stooping in confined spaces, walking up and down stairs, ladders and inclines, maneuvering on job sites that may be uneven and contain various hazards such as open holes, working with their hands and various tools occasionally, raising or lowering objects from one level to another, lifting, carrying and moving objects weighing as much as 50 pounds

Preferred Skills - Self-motivated, takes initiative, with good time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively
