Job Description
The ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher supports multilingual students in developing English proficiency and achieving academic success across all subjects. They provide targeted, differentiated instruction to help students access rigorous curriculum and prepare for advanced coursework and post-secondary opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Deliver standards-aligned English language development and content-based instruction
+ Plan and submit scaffolded lesson plans with language objectives
+ Use assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction
+ Communicate regularly with students and families about language growth
+ Integrate technology to support language learning
+ Maintain a structured, positive classroom environment
+ Build strong relationships with students and families
+ Provide individualized or small group language support
+ Participate in team meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree or higher required
+ TN teaching license required with applicable endorsement
+ One year of experience preferred
+ Willingness and ability to accept direct responsibility for safety, wellbeing, or work output of other people
+ Ability to read and implement instructional plans, correspond with parents and administration, and effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, parent, students, staff members, and the general public as requested
+ Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
